The fresh air of excessively charming femininity that is a young girl hangs fully about this work.
Nothing is visible other than the model, and, through the artist's rendering of only her form, we can see in this work Shimei's mature painting style as it simply depicts female beauty.
Image Terashima Shimei:
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1892. He studied drawing, poetry calligraphy, and literature from childhood, and when he was 21, he studied under Kaburaki Kiyokata. Adding his unique pictorial vision to the emotional style he absorbed from his master, he produced artistic portraits of beautiful women. He moved to Nishinomiya City after 1936, where he drew portraits of women in his neighborhood.
