Hayashi Yoshio: Born in Tokyo in 1905. His paintings were accepted to the 1924 Chuo Art Exhibition, when he was 19 years old. He studied Japanese painting under Tsutaya Ryuko. In 1961, he established the Japan Children's Painting Association with Takei Takeo, Kurosaki Yoshisuke and others. They held exhibitions annually at Tokyu Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, until 1984. Some of the most notable works include "Oyayubi-hime" (Thumb-size Princess) and "Otomodachi (Friend)". He is a director of the Artist Copyright Federation of Japan and the Japan Art Association. He died in 2010. |
