"Wang Zhaojun"
1947
Wang Zhaojun was a mistress of great beauty who served the Emperor of ancient China in the earlier Han period. A curious fate caused her to marry the leader of an enemy country. This work elegantly depicts her personality and her resolution to accept this fate.
Image Born in Tokyo in 1884. He studied under Tomoto KOBORI and later formed the Party of Shiko, a study group, which marked a new phase in Japanese art. From 1914, he exhibited in the restored Inten exhibition and went on to produce such masterpieces as "Nisshoku" and "Wang Zhaojun". He founded a refined style of historical painting called the neo-classical style; it was based on historical accuracy and reasonable interpretation. After the death of Yokoyama Taikan in 1958, he was inaugurated as the first chairman of the Japan Art Club, which was then turned into a foundation.
