The 97th Reorganized Inten
Oct 23 (Tue) - Nov 11 (Sun) |
| The Japan Art Institute (Inten) was established in 1898, based on the ideals of Okakura Tenshin, who preached the creation of a new Japanese painting style. After his death, Yokoyama Taikan re-organized the institute in 1914, taking over Tenshin's desires. Since then, Inten has played a great role in the innovation of modern Japanese paintings. This exhibition will display about 120 works that are fresh and full of originality, mainly by Inten coteries who have taken over the institute’s tradition and history. |
