The Seven Most Popular Artists of Japanese Paintings Their Masterpieces Are Open
Adachi Museum of Art opened in 1970, with art works that Adachi Zenko, an entrepreneur from Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, had collected for years. The museum currently houses 1,500 works in total, and these were produced by great painters who developed the modern art world in Japan. Among these, the Yokoyama Taikan collection of 120 works from his early to later years is considered the most extensive, both in quality and quantity. The museum has many other highly esteemed works from Japanese art history, by artists such as Kawai Gyokudo, Uemura Shoen, Hashimoto Kansetsu, Kawabata Ryushi, Sakakibara Shiho and Ito Shinsui. Today, the Adachi Museum of Art plays an essential role in modern Japanese paintings. This exhibition will display the best works by Taikan, who makes up the core of the museum’s art collection, Gyokudo, Kansetsu, Ryushi, Shiho and Shinsui. The museum usually changes the exhibited works with each season, so this is the best opportunity to appreciate them all at once. By appreciating masterpieces by painters who developed their own painting styles, it is possible to appreciate the features and attraction of the museum's collection. This is a chance that shouldn’t be missed. We hope that you fully enjoy this exhibition. |
