The Adachi Museum of Art Award
The Adachi Museum of Art Award
Adachi Museum of Art established the Adachi Museum of Art Award in 1995 to commemorate its 25th anniversary, with a view to encouraging promising Japanese artists. The award is granted to one work shown at the Inten Exhibition, which is held every September. The award winning work is later purchased and added to our collection.
The museum has a large and exquisite collection of Yokoyama Taikan works. It is therefore significant that the Nihon Bijutsu-in (Japan Art Institute), which Taikan and others revived, guided by the ideals laid out by Okakura Tenshin, endorses the award. In 2005, for the further development of modern art and dissemination of the award, it is also to be awarded at the Spring Inten Exhibition.
It is our sincere desire that these award-winning works will become an added attraction to the Adachi collection and have an important role in the development of Japanese-style painting.
