    A woman is comfortably napping on a large sofa. The cloth textures and the sunshine from the window are expressed as if the painter was having fun with the harmony of colors. The painter’s delicate aesthetic and abundant skill can be clearly seen through this work.

Miyakita Chiori

1967‐
Miyakita Chiori was born in Tokyo. In 1994, she finished a doctorate course at the Graduate School, Tokyo University of the Arts. In the same year, she won her first Inten Exhibition award. Since 1993, she has been part of a team investigating the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, China. In 2002, her work Dozing received the eighth Adachi Museum Award, and she has since actively released works for Inten and personal exhibitions. In 2007, she was recommended as a regular member of the Japan Art Institute. With a bright, rich coloring technique and a unique composition, she has continuously focused on painting women living today.
