Which Painting is The Best for You? Total Competition
August 31 (Wed) ‐ November 30 (Wed), 2016
“Which painting would you choose if you could take one of the paintings exhibited in the Museum?”--Zenko Adachi, the founder of the Adachi Museum of Art, would often ask of visitors. The words might have been the result of Zenko’s hope that the viewer would not only appreciate the works, but also pick out a favorite. Adachi Museum houses numerous works by masters of the modern Japanese art world, including Yokoyama Taikan. Participating in a unique competition could lead you to your favorite. We are certain that the exhibition will offer a good opportunity to find it. The same attempts of “competition” have been held before, with a good response. This year, we will enhance the exhibition, adding different masterpieces including Yokoyama Taikan’s Autumn Leaves, a splendid folding screen, and Takeuchi Seiho’s Fireside depicting puppies, whose facial expression and motion will bring a smile to the nominees. We will set a “ballot box” in the exhibition room. Some entries selected in the draw will receive our original products as gifts. Which painting is the best for you? Please select and vote for your favorite.

Count and Enjoy Japanese Paintings
One animal, four flowers, and ten people cheerfully gathering – various “numbers” can be found in Japanese paintings. We will select exhibits focusing on numbers shown in pictures. We hope that studying the works carefully and counting the numbers will be a unique, entertaining experience. Count and enjoy these Japanese paintings.
