    Ancient Road in Kumano2009 170.0×362.3 cm
    Kumano ancient road leads to the hallowed ground, where ancient people hoped to travel. The greenery of gregarious Japanese cedars and moss are expressed with beautiful mineral pigments. The cedar forest with the sunshine streaming and the long stone steps with brilliance are well captured and mysteriously expressed.

Matsumura Koji

1948‐
Matsumura Koji was born in Nara Prefecture. In 1972, he entered the graduate school of Aichi University of the Arts, and learned from Kataoka Tamako. During that time, he won his first award at the Inten Exhibition. He then mainly released works for Inten, while painting for personal exhibitions and other exhibitions. He has traveled to various areas for preparatory study, including India, Spain and China. He has created numerous masterpieces depicting ordinary life, nature and flowers and birds.
