    Cats in a Port2006 100.0×112.0 cm
    A fishing port in Greece that is home to many cats; some are seen even on a ship. In such a scene, the peaceful, natural life of cats and people can be appreciated. Based on the stable structure, motion and complicated rhythm are created in the wires, the various cat figures and the ship putting to sea.

Murakami Yuji

1964‐
Murakami Yuji was born in Tokyo. In 1987, he graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. He won several awards at the Inten Exhibitions, and in 2000, he was recommended as a regular member of Inten. In 2006, he won the second Spring Adachi Museum Award with Cats in a Port. In 2008, he suddenly stopped painting to enter the Buddhist priesthood. Today, however, he continues to release works on his own themes, such as streetscapes with an exotic mood or the world of imagination.
