Selection of Contemporary Japanese Paintings Ⅱ Contemporary Painters Coloring the Present Time
Date: Wed, November 19, 2025 – mid-March, 2026
The Annex of the Adachi Museum of Art opened in 2010, as a gallery to display Japanese paintings from the later of Showa Period to the present time. This year, 2025, marks the 15th anniversary of its opening.
Compared to modern Japanese paintings from Meiji to middle of Showa Period, contemporary Japanese painting is, distinctively, expressed in a much freer manner. Painters, in today’s dizzying society, are pursuing aesthetics with a fresh sensibility to create works full of will.
This exhibition showcases various aesthetic themes, sought by each painter from their unique viewpoints. We hope that you will enjoy the attractions of contemporary Japanese painting, expressed in the full space of each large canvas.
