Tabuchi Toshio

1941 ‐ 
Tabuchi Toshio was born in Tokyo, and graduated from the Graduate School of Tokyo University of Arts in 1967.
He became an assistant professor of Aichi University of the Arts and also served as a professor of his alma mater.
While preparing for Inten exhibitions, he produced fusuma screens for Chishakuin Temple and the Jikido mural at Yakushiji Temple.
His gentle coloring and beautiful lines give a sense of a calm harmony.
In 2016, he became director of the Japan Art Institute, and in 2024, received the Order of Culture.
