Selection of Contemporary Japanese Paintings Ⅱ Grand View of 100 Works

Date: Fri, Jun 26, – Mon, Oct 19, 2026

Adachi Museum of Art houses numerous works by contemporary Japanese painters, who have flourished as part under the Japan Art Institute (Inten). Inten was established in 1898 with the aim of the developing new styles of Japanese painting, and has seen a large number of painters over the years, leading to many unique and innovative works.
This exhibition will display 100 works for Inten produced by contemporary Japanese painters. The diverse works will be displayed in the exhibition rooms, including a smaller work painted for cover of a magazine, and a large folding screen (byobu). We hope that you will enjoy attractive features of today’s Japanese paintings through their unique expression styles.
