Track of an Artist Pursuing Beauty and Cuisine

March 28 (Tue), 2022 – June 26 (Mon), 2023
Kitaoji Rosanjin (1883-1959) is known as a creator of high-class artworks in a wide range of areas from calligraphy works, including engraved pieces, to pottery, painting, and lacquerware. It is also well known that he established a prestigious Japanese restaurant, “Hoshigaoka Saryo.” While housing numerous modern and contemporary Japanese paintings, Adachi Museum has made efforts to collect Rosanjin works. Today, the museum houses about five hundred selected masterpieces of Rosanjin, and we sequentially display these at Rosanjin Hall, which opened in 2020.
The year of 2023 will have the 140th anniversary of Rosanjin’s birth and the 3rd anniversary of the Rosanjin Hall’s inauguration. We will display the finest about 120 masterpieces from our collection, and will, for the first time, publish significant documents, including a menu directly written by Rosanjin and photographs that have recently been contributed. We would be grateful if you fully enjoy the attraction of Rosanjin, who pursued beauty and cuisine.
