    The Swineherd and Princess45.0×52.2 cm
    A prince is surrounded by many pigs, and a princess is silently gazing at him. This work is based on one of Andersen’s Tales, “The Swineherd”. The painter prepared layers of light colors on the background, which creates a fantastic atmosphere, drawing the viewer into the story.

Kurosaki Yoshisuke

1905‐1984
Kurosaki Yoshisuke was born in Nagasaki Prefecture. In 1925, he entered the Kawabata Art School, and began studying art full time. He won his first award in the Chuo Art Exhibition in 1927. He joined the New Nippon Doga Group, an organization to promote innovation of children’s paintings in 1934. He released works for several magazines, including Kodomo‐no‐Kuni and Kinder Book. In 1961, he participated in establishing the second Japan Doga Artist Association with Takei Takeo and other painters. His masterpieces include Momotaro (The Peach Boy) and Shita‐kiri Suzume (The Tongue‐cut Sparrow), which are based on Japanese folk stories.
