The Shiraito Falls have several beautiful water currents. The flows and rocks are depicted skillfully with light and thick sumi. The bright line of the rainbow further accentuates the atmosphere. In this work, the painter, who was 86 years of age at the time, attempted to express sumi, which is one of the most important themes in Japanese painting.
